The texture of your hash will depend greatly on:

• how you pressed your hash
• the amount of oils in the hash

Hash that is softer (such as Moroccan or Pakistani style) is likely newer and higher in terpene content. Brick type hash will require a brief heat flash from a lighter to get the hash malleable so you may smell the full effects of the hash.

This test is considered to be the ultimate test for determining whether your hash has good quality.

Take a small sample of your hash and hold a flame about one inch above it. Do not let the flame touch the hash.

If when the flame hits the hash it begins to bubble and boil, this means it is very high in resin content. If however the hash simply burns or becomes like coal, then it probably has too many plant particles or contaminants in it.

Hash is extremely versatile. You can:

• crush it into a roll of flowers
• use a special bong or dab rig
• even put it in a concentrate compatible vaporizer

Hash is also great at making edible products, but first you must dissolve it in fat (i.e., butter) using heat to activate it.

Blond hashes are generally produced by drying sifted kief and they produce a mental, "up" feeling. The darker hashes are usually made by either kneading the product extensively or by applying intense heat during the production process. Therefore, the darker hashes will produce a physically relaxing, sedative effect.

Hash has an extended shelf-life compared to flowers. Store it in an air-tight container in a cool, dark area and it should remain potent for years. Even though the surface may lose moisture due to aging, the inner core remains potent.
